I wish I could take a picture of Piglet in her new sweater, but my camera is broken. I could scan her, but I've never heard of a dog scan. Anyway, I used this pattern and the sweater is a black and yellow striped one. Scott said I should make some wings for it so she would look like a bee. This morning when he got up he got quite a surprise. I put wings on the sweater -- I stuck 2 maxi pads "with wings" on her back. They didn't stay on very long, plus she was afraid of them -- I suppose I don't blame her. I guess I'll have to come up with a better plan. ;)

It must be. I think I forgot and took 2 Lexapro last night. I now know the word "buzz" firsthand as it relates to being over-medicated. I woke up in the middle of the night, and I felt like my nerve-endings were all buzzing. I realized that feeling that good was probably illegal, LOL. I know what you're probably thinking, but it was unintentional.

And I'm excited that it's payday tomorrow, because I think we have about $8 left in our account -- just glad not to be in the negative numbers. Oh, the joys of poverty! And I'm not really kidding, because the difference between payday and the days before payday can often provide a wonderful contrast that makes buying anything pretty darn exciting and wonderful. ;) But I do have good perspective on the situation. I do. I would rather do without a lot of things and be home with my kids than have better/more stuff. And I could really rant about this if I got started, but I'll spare any readers out there -- for today at least.

I was in the car for many hours yesterday because I was driving my daughter around to appointments and on errands. She and Mark are moving to their own apartment on Sunday! I'm so happy for them. ;) I love my daughter and son-in-law, but I know it will be good for them and for us when they have their own place. They have been really great since they've been here, but 8 people in our house is a little crowded, and groceries don't go very far at all. For several character-building days, we've had to eat boring stuff such as rice crispies or oatmeal for breakfast, or we've actually had to COOK THINGS. But I'm not complaining, because we still had plenty of food, even though the kids didn't like most of it.

I've been doing a lot of crocheting lately. My mom always picks up yarn for me whenever she can, and then Cassandra brought a whole bunch of it for me from Texas that her MIL didn't want. I have 3 large baskets full of yarn now. I can't just let it go and give it to the thrift shop like most things because I know I could help people with it -- but I'm about to get overrun with the stuff. I made 1 1/2 winter hats yesterday for humanitarian aid while I was waiting in the car and listening to Rush. If I can work just a little every day on a charity project, I may reduce the mountain of yarn. ;)

Oh yeah, I didn't mention that I got to go to yet another funeral -- actually a memorial service Tuesday night. I didn't know the guy -- I knew his wife -- sorta (as in I've seen her around, and she teaches Jason's Sunday school class). Anyway, I went to do the genealogy library, and I had to close it early for the memorial service. I was going to just go home, but Scott's Suburban broke down (just the heater hose) and he was in his suit because he was playing the organ for the service. So I was stuck because he needed to ride home with me. It's a real bummer to go to too many funerals. This guy was only 29 and died of congestive heart failure. He was a really large guy from what I gather. Oooo, but there were some very interesting people there. One guy really intrigued me. He had shaved his head completely bald, and had the bridge on his nose pierced. Plus, he had big round earrings in both ears -- not dangly, but the kind with posts. Sorta looked like women's earrings from the 80's. Anyway, this guy was either old, or had a rough life. He looked scary. And his ?wife had dyed her long hair jet black and she had a scary look about her too.

I've been feeling a bit depressed the last few days -- no really good reason, but a bunch of little things piled up together.

I planned on sleeping in this morning a little, but of course the phone would ring, and it would be a woman that I only hear from when she's calling to ask a favor. ~~sigh~~ Some people are so exasperating. Anyway, I said no, and I don't feel one bit sorry. She works in the genealogy library at church, and she's always trying to pass it off to others -- usually me. Sometimes I wish my last name started with a Z. If she can't or doesn't want to do it, then she should go and talk to someone and get released. It's completely voluntary, but she's always trying to volunteer everyone else. Anyway, I always go over there when it's my turn and do my job -- I even went over on Jason's birthday because I was on the schedule for that day. And half the time or more when she's supposed to be there there's a note on the door saying that she's sick or at the doctor. I'm already on the schedule to be there from 4:30 to 9:00 tonight. I don't want to spend my entire day over there. Some people.

And I wrote some more here, but then my connection was down, so I lost what I wrote. Anyway, gripe gripe mumble grumble gripe.

Basically, I went to see Dr. S. yesterday. And I'm not complaining about that. I just wish I didn't need to go see him, and I didn't need to be on medication. But depression is real, and it sucks. I tried ignoring it for way too long. Thankfully, I feel as though I'm getting closer all the time to being "normal." I'm not so overwhelmed all the time, and I don't have a disproportionate amount of fear or guilt about trivial stuff.

I thought I'd start doing Monday Madness, especially since my friend Otto is the one that does it. :) I'm just inconsistent. Anyway, here's a double dose:

Last week's:
1. I often wake up before my alarm clock goes off. False, I don't even set one -- I let Scott set his. I hardly ever wake up even when it goes off.
2. I love to drive; in any kind of weather! False, I don't even like to drive in good weather.
3. I'd rather have to worry about staying warm than staying cool. Very, very true.
4. I wish I lived in another state. True sometimes -- in the summer I wish I lived in Alaska.
5. Multi-tasking is what I do best! True, I wish I could crochet while driving. ;)
6. Flying is the only way to go! True if I would have to drive, but I would rather take a car trip if Scott were driving.
7. Budgeting my money is one of my downfalls. True, I let Scott handle the money.
8. I wish there was 8 days in the week! True if it added a day to the weekend, otherwise false.
9. I get at least 7 hours of sleep a night. Not always true.
10. I'm a night owl. Somewhat true.

This week's:
1. The one kitchen appliance I just could not live without is my microwave. (although recently I lived without one for over a week)
2. My desk always looks like a thristy crocheter's workspace (yarn, patterns & beverages everywhere).
3. The clocks in my house are always ??? minutes fast. (I'm lucky if they display the correct time)
4. The one television program I just can't stand is most of them -- I couldn't pick just one.
5. The one television program I try to never miss is Seinfeld (reruns, obviously).
6. When it comes to housework, I really hate cleaning the kids' bathrooms.
7. If I could re-design my living room, the first thing I would do is take out the fireplace and put in a woodstove.
8. I wish I had a bigger dining area and table in my house.
9. When someone points a camera at me and says 'Smile!' I usually hide.
10. I expect I'll have my income tax done by whenever Scott does it -- soon.

A little sketch I did of the clock at church today. I fiddled with it in PSP 7 and had some fun.

It has been a melancholy day today. I left during Sunday school and went to Karl's funeral with Cassandra and Mark. It all seems so surreal that he's gone. I wasn't really close to him or anything, but I knew him pretty well, as I saw him quite a bit when he was Cassandra's boyfriend. He was a nice young man -- very considerate and polite. I can't imagine how his family felt -- losing their 20-year-old son.

But it's interesting that this summer he was in a near-fatal motorcycle accident. He had been in a coma and in ICU for a long time. He had recovered, but was still in pretty bad shape when he had the accident on Wednesday with the kerosene heater explosion. It's almost as if it were his time to go this summer, but he had been given just a little longer to be with his family. His father spoke at the funeral, and it was very touching to listen to him speak about his faith in an afterlife and what he thought Karl was doing now. I'm glad he has that faith to carry him through this. Some things in life make no sense, but when we have faith it is so much easier.

weird dreams

I just remembered the strange dream I had last night. I don't think I would have remembered it, but the pet foil hat jogged my memory (thanks Chew) when I read that it couldn't be put in the microwave. I guess when I fell asleep last night I must have been worried about money, because I dreamed that hamsters were on the menu. We must have had an abundance of them. But I microwaved them a little too long, and everyone was pretty upset with me. We only had half the hamsters for supper that we would have had. I think I overcooked them for humane reasons -- wanting to put them out of their misery as quickly as possible. Now don't be mad at me, because it was a dream. I would never hurt a hair on a tiny hamster's head in real life even if we were low on food. ;)
